Title Block
The chart title block should be the first thing a navigator looks at when receiving a new edition chart. The title itself tells what area the chart covers. The chart’s scale and projection appear below the title. The chart will give both vertical and horizontal datums and, if necessary, a datum conversion note.

This graphic shows a NOAA chart title block for Salem and Lynn Harbor MA. Information contained includes, Mercator Projections, Scale at Latitude, North American Datum of 1983, Soundings in Feet at MLLW.
