Over 30 years in the Maritime Industry

Experience:
1998 to present:  President of Jacobsen Pilot Service, Inc.  (Long Beach Pilots, CA.)
1996 to 1998: Pilot and Vice President of Jacobsen Pilot Service, Inc.
1993 to 1996: Pilot Training program with over 2,000 ship moves
1988 to 1993: Shipped out on many different types of vessels including Hydrographic Survey / Research vessels, Oil Tankers, and Bulk Ships all around the world. 
1983 to 1984: USCG Licensed (Limited) for Pilot Boat operator
1979 to 1983: Pilot Boat deckhand, maintenance

Education:
1984 to 1988: California Maritime Academy
Professional Affiliations:
Past president & Chairman of the Marine Exchange of Southern California, currently BOD member.
Member of the Propeller Club.   Member of the Harbor Association of Industry and Commerce.
Founding member of FuturePorts for Los Angeles and Long Beach.

Accomplishments:
Jacobsen Pilot Service (JPS) has been instrumental in helping the Port of Long Beach bring larger and larger ships safely into port by implementing state of the art technology such as; shore side radars, highly accurate range lights, developing DGPS technology for Pilot carry aboard systems for “Precision Piloting”.  JPS is an active part of the Vessel Traffic System.  JPS has participated with NOAA for many years in developing real time weather information systems for Wind, Current and Air Gap sensors.
