NOAA recently hosted its fourth NOAA Navigation Industry Day at the Annapolis Yacht Club adjacent to this year’s Annapolis Boat Show. This annual event welcomed maritime application and navigation system developers interested in learning about the latest freely-available navigation-related data streams, models, and products that NOAA offers.
The event featured data enhancements and models — such as tides and currents station observations and predictions, weather and wave predictions, and operational forecast system models — that can provide added-value to existing navigation systems. Attendees also received updates on NOAA’s National Charting Plan and the new NOAA Custom Chart Tool prototype. The presentation session concluded with a overview of the latest developments in data standards for navigation systems including the S-100 framework. The afternoon session allowed for individual consultations with NOAA experts to provide feedback on our suite of products.
